Fairfax Nursing Center, a skilled nursing facility based in Fairfax, Virginia, and its owners have agreed to pay $700,000 to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by knowingly submitting or causing the submission to Medicare of false claims for non-reimbursable rehabilitation therapy services.
This whistleblower case included claims that the facility provided therapy services to Medicare beneficiaries that were not reasonable and necessary for the treatment of their condition.
The lawsuit was filed by therapists who worked at the facility. These whistleblowers will receive $122,500 of the recovery.
