A former director of Health Management Services at Morton Plant Hospital will receive over $1.8 million as her share of the government’s recovery in a False Claims Act case arising from a hospital group’s submission of false claims for services rendered to Medicare patients.
In this case against Morton Plant Mease Health Care Inc. and affiliated hospitals, the Department of Justice alleged that the hospitals improperly billed for certain cardiac and vascular procedures as inpatient care when they should have been billed as less expensive outpatient care.
Under this settlement, the Justice Department recovered $10,169,114 in taxpayer funds.
