Laboratory Research Product Contractor Agrees To Pay $5.65 Million To Resolve False Claims Act Lawsuit

Corning Incorporated has agreed to pay $5.65 million to resolve allegations that it knowingly presented false claims to the United States for laboratory research products.

According to the claims raised in this whistleblower lawsuit, Corning failed to comply with its contractual obligations to provide the government with current, accurate and complete information about its commercial sales practices, including discounts offered to other customers.   The United States argued that Corning’s failure to properly disclose its practices resulted in the government paying far more that it should have for Corning products.

As a reward for exposing Corning’s conduct to the government through this False Claims Act lawsuit, the whistleblower who filed this case will receive $904,000.
